Rams have cleared far more 2024 cap space than any team this offseason

The Rams are 1 of 3 teams that have cleared cap room in 2024 and their amount is way more than any other team

The Rams have said they’re still focused on winning in 2023, even though all of their offseason moves suggest their attention is on 2024 and beyond. There’s no way they can say this team is better now than it was last season, not after parting ways with Bobby Wagner, Leonard Floyd and Jalen Ramsey.

The purpose of those moves was to not just free up cap space this year, but more importantly, clear room in 2024. In that regard, consider it mission accomplished.

According to Over The Cap, the Rams have freed up $58.2 million in 2024 cap space this year, primarily by moving on from Wagner, Floyd and Ramsey. No other team comes close to that amount.

The team that’s cleared the second-most space in 2024 is Tennessee, which has freed up $28.5 million. The Eagles are the only other team that has had a net cap increase, but theirs is only $893,146. Every other team has lessened its cap space in 2024 based on their moves this offseason.

The Rams’ offseason losses this year have been significant, resulting in a major loss in contract value. According to Over The Cap, the Rams have lost $50.1 million in annual contract value. Only the Chiefs, Raiders, Eagles and 49ers have lost more annual contract value this offseason.

The Rams’ gain of $1.24 million in annual contract value is the lowest in the NFL, giving them a net loss of $48.86 million.
