Rams’ Brian Allen (thumb), David Edwards (concussion) both ruled out vs. Saints

The Rams will once again be missing 2 of their starting offensive linemen this week. Brian Allen and David Edwards are both ruled out.

Just when it seemed like the Rams’ offensive line was starting to get healthy with Brian Allen and Coleman Shelton returning, the group took two steps back. Sean McVay announced on Friday that both Allen and David Edwards have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Saints.

Allen had surgery on his thumb and also has some swelling in his knee, so he won’t play against New Orleans. The knee has bothered him most of the year, keeping him on the injury report the last 3 weeks since he returned.

Edwards was designated to return from IR this week after missing time with a concussion, but McVay said he suffered a setback and will not play on Sunday. That leaves the Rams without two of their three starting interior linemen – again.

McVay said the team is still deciding how the starting offensive line will look against the Saints. Oday Aboushi, Shelton and Bobby Evans are all likely to be in consideration to start. Matt Skura is also an option.
