[autotag]Ramazan Kuramagomedov[/autotag] is finally set for his return to action when he meets an ex-UFC fighter.
Kuramagomedov (8-0) takes on [autotag]William Macario[/autotag] (11-5) at UAE Warriors 22, which takes place Sept. 4 at Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Abu Dhabi. North American fans will be able to watch the event on The Fight Network.
Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Kuramagomedov, a Dana White’s Contender Series alum, is unbeaten in his pro MMA career. Since failing to secure a UFC contract when he edged out Jordan Williams at DWCS 21 in 2019, the Russian has scored back-to-back submissions over Melisbek Abdyrakhmanov and, most recently, Trevor Ollison at CFFC 85 in September 2020. Kuramagomedov was scheduled to face Alex Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 186 in February but withdrew due to illness.
Macario, a finalist on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2,”went 1-3 in the UFC before subsequently getting released from the promotion in 2015. The Brazilian has split his past four appearances, most recently capturing the vacant Nacao Cyborg welterweight championship with a second-round knockout of Lucas Paredes in July.
With the addition, the UAE Warriors 22 lineup now includes:
- Shawn Bunch vs. Rany Saadeh
- Ramazan Kuramagomedov vs. William Macario
