Rajon Rondo suffered strained finger at OKC, will be day-to-day

The Los Angeles Lakers guard suffered a small injury after having his best game of the season in a win at Oklahoma City.

The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off what may be their best win of the season so far with an incredible 125-110 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night without either of their superstars, LeBron James nor Anthony Davis. And one of their key players in the unlikely win also appears to have dodged serious injury after playing one of his best games of the season.

X-rays on Rajon Rondo’s right hand came back negative and the Lakers determined that Rondo suffered a strained fourth finger, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. Rondo had a season-high 21 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists in a throwback performance where he outplayed Oklahoma City’s Chris Paul.

Rondo got the start on Saturday night in place of LeBron James. James missed the game with an illness he’s been dealing with since the Lakers win over the New York Knicks on Jan. 7. Rondo is considered day-to-day but with the Lakers already thin on playmakers behind James, losing Rondo wouldn’t help their issues.

With the win, the Lakers improved to 31-7 and extended their current win-streak to eight games.
