Raiders WR Tyrell Williams is Derek Carr’s most efficient receiver ever

When the Raiders signed Tyrell Williams in free agency, the idea was that he would be the perfect complement to Antonio Brown or any other No. 1 wide receiver. But after Brown flamed out with the Raiders, Williams became the team’s de facto No. 1 receiver.

Williams started 14 games with the Raiders, catching 42 passes for 651 yards and six touchdowns. While the overall numbers aren’t fantastic, the efficiency is actually quite surprising.

In fact, Williams just so happens to be Derek Carr’s most efficient receiver ever. Take a look at the adjusted yards per attempt for every receiver Derek Carr has targeted at least 50 times since entering the NFL.

While it seems unlikely that Williams will be able to maintain this type of efficiency throughout his career with the Raiders, it’s not unrealistic that he could average 15 or 16 yards per reception for the next few seasons.

If Henry Ruggs can quickly develop into a No. 1 receiver, then Williams (and Hunter Renfrow) can help form one of the better wide receiver corps in the NFL. Williams remains one of the most underrated receivers in the NFL.
