Raiders WR Nelson Agholor named one of the biggest free agents set to hit market

The Raiders will enter free agency with only a few notable players expected to hit the market. Players such as Denzelle Good and Nicholas Morrow have seen the contracts expire with the Raiders and will become free agents. However, the team’s biggest free agent, by far, is wide receiver Nelson Agholor.

Agholor had a strong season with the Raiders in 2020, totaling 896 yards and eight touchdowns on just 48 receptions. He was a highly efficient weapon, averaging nearly 11 yards per target for the Raiders.

In a recent piece by ESPN, they listed the top 50 players who are scheduled to become free agents in March. Not surprisingly, Agholor appeared on the list, coming at No. 41. Here is what the site had to say about his performance from last season:

“Agholor revived his career as a true downfield receiver in the Raiders’ offense, finishing the season ranked No. 2 in the NFL in average yards per catch (18.7) and yards per target (15.4). He still struggled with drops, ranking No. 8 with an 8.6% drop rate, but he proved without a doubt to be the kind of deep threat many envisioned when he entered the league five years ago.”

Teams, including the Las Vegas Raiders, aren’t going to suddenly view him as a No. 1 receiver and that will be reflected in his next contract. However, Agholor could have a strong market as a complementary receiver in a vertical passing offense.

Expect the Raiders to have interest in bringing back Agholor. However, anticipate a strong market for the former USC star.
