Jakobi Meyers had a monster day in Week 1, catching nine passes for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Davante Adams made several big plays, including drawing multiple pass interference calls. But the one player that did not have a big impact was slot receiver Hunter Renfrow.
Renfrow played only 13 snaps on Sunday and failed to record a single stat. According to Paul Gutierrez, he was one of the biggest losers of Week 1 for the Raiders. Here is a snippet of what he had to say about the slot receiver of the Raiders:
Not his fault at all, but the former Pro Bowl slot receiver was nowhere to be found on the stat sheet. He was not even targeted once. A silver lining could be that if the Raiders can operate efficiently without a contribution from him, imagine what they will look like with him involved?
Bigger games are coming for Renfrow, especially if Meyers has to miss the team’s Week 2 game against the Bills due to a head injury. He’ll get used more in the passing game as the year goes on. This just wasn’t the game for him as the Raiders opted for more two tight-end sets rather than their usual 11 personal grouping.
