Even with the 1-4 record for the Raiders following Monday Night’s loss to the Chiefs, some people are still hopeful about the prospects of the team. That, in part, is because all their losses have been close ones. None closer than their one-point loss to the Chiefs.
Helping ease the sting is the fact that the Raiders were able to put up 29 points on the Chiefs. And it would’ve been 30 points had Josh McDaniels opted to tie the game by kicking the extra point instead of a failed two-point conversion attempt.
It was probably the most impressive display by the offense this season. Made more impressive considering they were without one of their top weapons most of the way.
Tight end Darren Waller — few weeks off getting a lucrative extension by the team — was lost after just eight snaps with a hamstring injury.
When Waller left the game, the Raiders had a 7-0 lead. Which means they scored the final 22 points without Waller as part of the offense.
After the game, McDaniels said he didn’t think Waller’s injury is “super significant” and with the bye week ahead, it’s certainly possible that could be enough time for Waller to rehab the injury and return after the bye.
