The Raiders made several roster moves on Tuesday as they announced the signing of veteran offensive tackle Sam Young to compete with Brandon Parker and David Sharpe. But the bigger move the team made was waiving veteran quarterback DeShone Kizer, according to the league’s waiver wire.
The Raiders acquired Kizer off the waiver wire on September 1, 2019 and he spent the entire season with the team. However, Kizer never appeared in a game as he was the team’s No. 3 quarterback behind Mike Glennon. Kizer was expected to compete with veteran Nathan Peterman for the No. 3 job in 2020, but that will no longer be the case.
Kizer is now subjected to waivers and will be looking to join his fourth team since being drafted by the Browns with the No. 52 selection in the 2017 NFL Draft. He hasn’t started a game since his rookie season when he threw 22 interceptions to just 11 touchdowns as he has lost all 15 of his career starts. Time is running out on Kizer to make an impact in the professional ranks.
