Raiders waive S Roderic Teamer following DUI arrest

It’s been quite a last few days for Raiders safety Roderic Teamer. Saturday he was activated off of injured reserve. Early Sunday morning he was pulled over for speeding and subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI. Come game time Sunday, he was made inactive. Monday morning he was released.

“We decided to part ways,” interim head coach Antonio Pierce said of Teamer.

Pierce went on to talk about how this can act as a lesson for the rest of the team.

“Just making smart decisions,” Pierce added. “I think it goes for all of us. Ultimate respect for Teamer as a person. Got to know him well, had a lot of conversations with him. Wish him the best. Sometimes it’s the wrong timing. Bad timing. And this is one of those cases. We’ve decided to move forward. I think all our guys need to understand this; whatever you do, on and off the field affects the decisions that will be made in this building and we’re going to do the best to protect the brand and the shield and the Raiders organization.”

Teamer was in his third season with the Raiders, having been retained despite the firing of Gus Bradley who was his defensive coordinator with both the Chargers and the Raiders.

The reserve defensive back and special teams maven was placed on injured reserve on October 18 and missed five games before getting the nod to return on Saturday. Then he decided to get behind the wheel of a car drunk and got himself unemployed.
