Raiders trade RB Lynn Bowden Jr. to Dolphins for 2021 fourth round pick

On cutdown day, the Raiders haven’t made a ton of surprising moves. In fact, everything they have done up until this point has been somewhat expected.

However, that changed quickly on Saturday as the team traded 2020 third-round pick Lynn Bowden Jr. to the Miami Dolphins, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The Raiders will receive a 2021 fourth-round pick in exchange for Bowden and a 2021 sixth-round choice.

Bowden was making the switch from quarterback/wide receiver to running back for the Raiders. But with the team already having Josh Jacobs and Jalen Richard on the roster, he wasn’t slated to see much work this season. Still, it’s surprising to see the team give up on the No. 80 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft so quickly.

With the team now trading away Bowden and releasing veteran Theo Riddick, it likely means that Devonatae Booker has won the No. 3 running back job. Bowden will get a chance to prove his worth in Miami in another crowded backfield.
