Raiders trade for Panthers LB Denzel Perryman

The Raiders addressed their linebacker need over the last few years, adding players like Cory Littleton, Tanner Muse and Nick Kwiatkowski. But after multiple injuries to Javin White and Nicholas Morrow over the last few weeks, the Raiders needed to add some bodies ahead of their next preseason game.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Raiders have traded for linebacker Denzel Perryman, who was with the Panthers. He last played with the Chargers in 2020 before signing a free-agent deal with the Panthers this offseason. That means he has a lot of experience with defensive coordinator Gus Bradley and won’t need much time to learn the scheme.

The Raiders did not have to surrender much for Perryman, swapping a sixth-round pick for a seventh-round pick.

While Perryman does have a lot of starting experience, it does not seem likely that he will be a Day 1 starter. Instead, look for him to be more of a depth player until everyone gets healthy.
