After several years of not being able to find the field, Darren Waller finally made an impact in the NFL. All it took was a position change and a fresh start with the Oakland Raiders.
In his first full season as a starting tight end, Waller did not disappoint. He led the team in receptions (90) and receiving yards (1,145) as he quickly became Derek Carr’s favorite option in the passing game.
Waller earned respect from his peers for his 2019 season as he was named the 99th-best player in the player’s top-100 list of 2020.
Just the start.

Entering the 2020 season, Waller has a chance to led all tight ends in receptions and touchdowns given his role in the Raiders’ offense. Essentially, he functions as the team’s No. 1 receiver and is the primary option on most passing plays. It will be fascinating to see how Waller looks this season with a full year under his belt.
