Last Sunday, Raiders TE Brock Bowers set three records in a win in New Orleans. One of those records only he’ll need to break again just a week later.
The record in question is the rookie receptions record. He hit 108 receptions last week, breaking the previous record of 105 which was set last season by Puka Nacua.
If you think having your record broken a season after setting it, think about having your record broken a week after setting it.
Bowers finished last Sunday’s game with 108 receptions, which became the new standard bearer.
The thing is, though, Giants WR Malik Nabers was just five catches away from breaking that mark. And he hit that number in the fourth quarter against the Eagles, to put him at 109 catches. That’s where the record stayed at the end of the game.
That record should last about an hour. Bowers is a big part of the Raiders offense and needs just two catches to take the record back and keep it this time. At least for a season.
