As the rookies report to the Raiders facility, the team is furiously getting all the loose ends tied up, signing them to their rookie deals. The latest is third round running back Lynn Bowden Jr.
Bowden was the team’s pick at 80 overall. He signed on to a 4-year, $4.7 million deal with a $985K signing bonus.
Over three years at Kentucky, Bowden played mostly wide receiver and quarterback. He put up a career-high 745 yards receiving with 5 touchdowns as a sophomore. He played primarily quarterback as a junior, where he rushed for 1468 yards with 13 touchdowns while passing for another 403 yards and 3 touchdowns.
As a senior in 2019, Bowden Jr. won the Paul Hornung Award as the nation’s most versatile player, in addition to being recognized as a first-team All-American
The 5-11, 204-pounder is an electric athlete who the Raiders will put at running back initially, with a ‘Joker’ receiver role in his future.
Bowden is the sixth draft pick the Raider have locked up on rookie deals today. Just one pick remains and that’s fourth round G John Simpson. But the day is young and the Raiders have been quite busy already.
