It is no secret that the Oakland Raiders will be searching for a No. 1 wide receiver this offseason. On the offensive side of the ball, it’s the only real weakness on the roster.
Luckily for the Raiders, the 2020 NFL draft is loaded with talent at the position, and it’s very likely the team will have several elite players available to them in the middle of the first round.
One player to keep an eye on during the draft process is Oklahoma Sooners’ receiver, CeeDee Lamb. Lamb has been one of the best receivers in college football this season, catching 50 passes for 1,035 yards and 14 touchdowns in 11 games for the Sooners. Due to his elite play, he was recently mocked to the Raiders at pick No. 16 by Pro Football Focus:
This would be one of the steals of the draft if Lamb were to make it all the way to No. 16. The Oklahoma wideout has bridged the gap between himself and Jerry Jeudy considerably this season, as Lamb leads all draft-eligible players in yards per route run on the year. He’d be the true number one that Oakland thought they had in Antonio Brown.
Lamb has elite size and speed that would be a perfect match in Jon Gruden’s offense. With Tyrell Williams and Hunter Renfrow already on contract, Lamb would be the ideal No. 1 receiver to pair with the rest of the wide receiver corps. Expect Lamb to be one of the few players the Raiders’ target in next April’s draft.
