Raiders Scouting Report: Utah State QB Jordan Love

Raiders Scouting Report: Utah State QB Jordan Love

Fit with the Raiders

Love is an intriguing prospect because of his excellent skill set. He has the arm, athleticism, and size you want to see from an NFL quarterback. Playing the position is a different story. Love needs to be coached up and is not pro-ready. Jon Gruden’s offense is horizontal and depends on throws outside the numbers where Love struggles the most.

With the amount of zone defense NFL teams are playing against the Raiders, it crucial to be proficient in that aspect of throwing the football, and Love is just not there. Add to that his problems with decision making, and I don’t see him being worthy of the pick of No. 12 or No. 19.

However, Love’s off-the-field issues could cause him to fall off of teams draft boards and allow him to tumble in the draft. If he somehow reaches the third round, the Raiders can draft him to sit behind Carr and develop.
