The quarterback topic has caused friendships to end in Raider Nation with the debate to replace Derek Carr. The arguments on both sides of the fence can get repetitive, and often annoying. Until after April, it will be the talk of the town.
With the team having their draft picks in the middle of the first round, they will have not have their chance to draft a top quarterback unless they trade up. Enter Jordan Love, who has first-round grades all around the draft community.
Love is a redshirt junior and three-year starter at Utah State. He is 6’3 and 225 pounds, which is prototypical quarterback size, with good athleticism. The Mountain West quarterback threw for 60 touchdowns and 8,600 yards during his career, having a breakout season in 2018.
In 2019, Love regressed tremendously and became turnover-prone, throwing 17 interceptions to only 20 touchdowns. His completion percentage also dropped from 64% to 61.9%, and Utah State finished the season 7-6.
Love’s off-the-field issues didn’t help either with him making a mistake right before his bowl game. But his Senior Bowl week helped raise his stock after a tough season, and he is back to receiving the first-round buzz. Let’s take a look at Love’s skill set and see what exactly he brings to the table.
