Raiders RT Trent Brown expected to play in Week 5 vs. Chiefs

After practicing for three-straight days for the first time since before Week 1, the Raiders are expecting Trent Brown to be back on the field at right tackle against the Kansas City Chiefs. Brown is scheduled to talk to the media today and that is typically a good sign that a player will be available for the upcoming week.

Brown injured his calf early in the team’s first game and has not yet returned to the field. His backup in Sam Young was also injured in Week 1, but did return to action last week. While Young has been fine as a replacement, he just nowhere near the athlete nor the player of Brown.

Last season, Brown started just 11 games for the team after he dealt with a number of injuries. However, his performance was still good enough to earn him his first Pro Bowl selection of his career.

When Brown is at or near 100 percent healthy, there aren’t many tackles better than him in the NFL. At 6’8, 380 pounds, Brown is a monster of a man who has surprisingly quick feet. He’s at his best in the run game when he can bury smaller defensive ends. The combination of he and Gabe Jackson make for one of the biggest and most ferocious run blockers duos in the NFL.

With the Raiders desperately needing a win to avoid a three-game losing streak, Brown’s presence should help lift this offense even further. Expect the Pro Bowl tackle to be on the field when the team takes on the Chiefs in Week 5.
