One of the most difficult decisions the Raiders will need to make over the next few weeks is what should they do with veteran offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor. A journeyman before coming to Las Vegas, Eluemunor has turned himself into a quality starter.
According to The Athletic, Eluemunor is the No. 26 ranked free agent heading in March. There are only a few offensive linemen ranked higher, but none have the position flexibility of Eluemunor. Here is what the site had to say about the veteran tackle going into the new league year:
Eluemunor has played right tackle in Las Vegas but might even be seen as a left tackle by some teams. He is a natural athlete with the feet and smooth agility to stay square on his targets, especially in pass protection. His ability to recover and play with consistent balance gives him a giant step up on the competition in this free-agent tackle pool. He makes it look easy at times.
What makes this decision really tough is that the Raiders do have a capable replacement in Thayer Munford. While he isn’t as consistent as Eluemunor, he has played well whenever he’s been on the field. Plus, the Raiders could also consider using the No. 13 pick to select a future starter at left tackle.
Time will tell what the Raiders do with Eluemunor, but he is going to be one of the most sought-after free agents in a few weeks because of his experience and versatility. Look for him to finally get the payday that he deserves in March.
