In Week 8, Josh Jacobs had his first 100-yard season of the year as he totaled 129 yards on the ground on 31 carries. It’s been tough sledding for Jacobs this season as the team has lost multiple offensive linemen for the season. It also hasn’t helped that teams are focusing on him more than during his rookie season.
However, Jacobs is still among the league’s best running backs. According to Pro Football Focus, the former Alabama star is still excelling at breaking and forcing missed tackles. On the season, Jacobs has forced the second-most missed tackles on the season:
“Josh Jacobs is seeing a sophomore slump, but that hasn’t stopped him from being one of the best backs at avoiding tackles. He led the league least year with 69 on his carries and is one away from tying the league lead this year with 28.”
Jacobs is still on pace to total over 1,400 yards this season and the hope is that his efficiency will continue to go up as players like Trent Brown and Richie Incognito get back into the lineup. Until then, the Raiders will rely on Jacobs winning with a subpar offensive line in front of him and will ask him to continue to avoid tackles at a high rate. Luckily for Las Vegas, Jacobs has proven that he is more than capable of handling that assignment.
