Raiders QB Jimmy Garoppolo named ‘most disappointing transaction’ from 2023 offseason

It’s still early, but the early returns on the Jimmy Garoppolo signing have not[lawrence-newsletter] been great. That doesn’t mean the Raiders made a mistake releasing Derek Carr, but Garoppolo hasn’t quite been the solution either.

Garoppolo has just an 81 passer rating after three games while giving away the ball six times. He is completing 68 percent of his passes, but his QBR of 49.4 is the lowest he’s had in years.

In a recent article by ESPN’s NFL insiders, they discussed which offseason move has been the most disappointing so far. Garoppolo’s name was mentioned off the top by Dan Graziano due to his turnovers:

Jimmy Garoppolo leads the league in interceptions and has played only three of the Raiders’ four games. That’s pretty disappointing.

Garoppolo is expected to be cleared from concussion protocol and start in Week 5 against the Packers. The Raiders are hopeful that his play can improve with more time in the offense. But so far, the play they’ve gotten at the QB position has been less-than-stellar.
