After a first-quarter interception on an overthrow to Darren Waller, it appeared as if Derek Carr was going to have another rough outing in Kansas City. However, Carr persevered in a big way, throwing for 347 yards and three touchdowns against the 2019-2020 Super Bowl champions.
More importantly, Carr got the win for the Raiders to help them improve to 3-2 ahead of their Week 6 bye. Because of his effort on Sunday, Carr was named FedEx’s Air Player of the Week as he finished the game with a passer rating of 126.7.

Carr led the NFL is QBR (92.2), a metric created by ESPN to measure every play by a quarterback throughout the course of the game. He completed 71 percent of his passes including three bombs down the field to Henry Ruggs (72, 46 yards) and one to Nelson Agholor (59 yards).
This version of Derek Carr is what the Raiders need as a franchise in order to take the next step. He is far more aggressive than we have seen him over the past few seasons and some of that credit goes to their new and improved receiving corps.
On the season, Carr has thrown for 11 touchdowns to just one interception. He’s completing over 73 percent of his passes and averaging a career-high 8.2 yards per attempt. He is well on his way to setting career highs across the board in his third year under Jon Gruden.
