Raiders QB Derek Carr a must-play in fantasy, DFS in Week 12

Raiders QB Derek Carr a must-play in fantasy, DFS in Week 12

In most fantasy leagues, Derek Carr went undrafted as he was viewed as a quarterback without a lot of upside. If he was being drafted at all, he was going after quarterbacks like Gardner Minshew, Drew Lock, and Tyrod Taylor.

But just like the rest of the Raiders, Carr has surpassed expectations. On the season, he is QB19, but he has performed far better over the last month of the season. He had one of his best games of the season in Week 11, throwing for 275 yards and three touchdowns against the Chiefs.

He’s now had four games this season with at least 20 fantasy points and will now face a Falcons’ defense that is allowing nearly 275 passing yards per game this season. Atlanta has also allowed the fourth-most points to opposing fantasy quarterbacks as their secondary can be exposed with relative ease.

At just $5,700 in DFS, Carr is a strong QB1 play this week at a relatively cheap price. If he is available on your waiver wire in your re-draft leagues, consider picking him up and placing him in your lineup as the upside is immense. Carr is also a fairly safe play in leagues that strong penalties interceptions as he has thrown just 11 interceptions since the start of the 2019 season.

Look for Carr to have a big day on Sunday and for him to approach 20 fantasy points one again. He should be one of the higher scoring quarterbacks of the week, especially if the Raiders’ defense causes this game to turn into a shootout.
