Raiders proving to be a top-10 offense during the 2020 season

If we have learned anything from this season, it’s that Jon Gruden still knows how to design and call an offense. While there have been moments that have left us scratching our heads, he’s been pretty good this season considering all of the injuries they’ve dealt with at wide receiver and on the offensive line.

By just about every metric, the Raiders have been a top-10 offense. They are top-10 in offensive points per game and No. 6 in points per drive. They are just on the outside of the top-10 in yards per play, which is another good indicator of how good an offense is throughout the season.

Here is a full breakdown of the offensive numbers in the NFL this season through Week 15:

The offense has had their times where they’ve struggled, but they clearly aren’t the issue with this team. As the Raiders get into the 2021 offseason, they have to feel good about the direction of their offense, especially with Pro Bowl talents like Darren Waller and Josh Jacobs on the roster.

If the Raiders can find a way to get their defense back to a respectable level this offseason, this is a team that should be a serious contender in the AFC. But the offense can only take this team so far with the current state of the defense.
