Raiders place WR Tyrell Williams on season-ending injured reserve list

One of the key members of the Raiders’ offense is already out for the season. After sustaining a shoulder injury earlier in camp, veteran wide receiver Tyrell Williams has been placed on the season-ending injured reserve list, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Williams is expected to get shoulder surgery but should be ready for the 2021 season. As the team’s No. 1 receiver in 2019, he caught 42 passes for 651 yards and six touchdowns.

Williams signed a big contract last offseason with the Raiders but struggled with two injuries to his feet. He missed two games with the injuries, but never looked completely healthy. With no guaranteed money left on his contract after the 2020 NFL season, it appears that Williams’ time with the Raiders could be over.

Rookies Henry Ruggs III and Bryan Edwards are expected to start in Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers at receiver. However, expect second-year receiver Hunter Renfrow to play a ton in the slot, as well.
