Another week, another Raiders addition to the reserve/COVID-19 list. In this case, it’s two additions. The team has officially placed defensive end Clelin Ferrell and defensive back Lamarcus Joyner on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Ferrell and Joyner join tackle Trent Brown and and linebacker Cory Littleton on the list. All four are starters for the team.
Often times when a team places more than one player on the list, one tested positive and the other(s) are placed on the list for close contact. There is no word as of yet if which classification either Ferrell or Joyner fit.
This happened to the Raiders a few weeks ago when Trent Brown first tested positive for COVID-19. Four other starting offensive linemen as well as safety Johnathan Abram were also placed on the list for close contact.
Should that be the case for either Ferrell or Joyner, they could be cleared to play Sunday against the Chiefs. If not, they will be unavailable for the game.
As always, it’s important to note that testing positive for COVID-19 is no small thing and this is about more than whether they will be able to play football. In Trent Brown’s case, he is on the list for the second time this season because he suffered residual effects even after he was no longer positive for the illness.
Hopefully all will be cleared and healthy in short order.
