Raiders lose important AFC game to Colts, 44-27

The Raiders entered Week 14 sitting in a great spot to potentially earn a playoff berth. At 7-5, they needed to get a win over the Colts to give themselves a great shot at making the tournament. But after losing at home, the Raiders now sit at 7-6 and their odds of making the playoffs have dropped dramatically.

Sunday was another game in which the Raiders’ defense performed poorly. The Colts were able to run the ball all day long and the Raiders didn’t have the personnel to stop them. Indianapolis ran for over 200 yards and dominated the Las Vegas defensive line.

The Raiders’ offense had their moments in this game, scoring 27 points. However, they had two turnovers and settled for field goals in the red zone far too often. Indianapolis has a great defense, but the Raiders had chances to score far more than 27 points in this game.

According to FiveThirtyEight, their playoff odds sit at just 22 percent after their loss. Unfortunately, a win by the Ravens on Monday Night Football would decrease their chances even further. Needless to say, it was a big loss for the Raiders in Week 14.

They will need to bounce back in Week 15 as they are set to host the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday Night Football. With a win in that game (plus a Ravens’ loss), their odds to make the playoff would increase to 38 percent. But that is a conversation for another day.
