If you thought the training camp buzz was loud for Bryan Edwards last year, get ready. The noise and hype surrounding the second-year wide receiver from South Carolina are growing by the second.
From all accounts, Edwards is having a strong camp. He is lining up with the starters, just like he did last season. He’s bulked up but appears to still have his quickness. And after plays like this, even his head coach can’t ignore the hype.

In a recent interview with the NFL Network, Jon Gruden compared Edwards to Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens. Gruden mentioned that Edwards “looks” like a No. 1 receiver now and that he has been impressed with his play during camp.
Size-wise, yes, Edwards is comparable to Owens. But does he have the same speed and power in the open field? That remains to be seen. But he did show some of the same aggressiveness during his career with the Gamecocks.
Comparing anyone to “T.O.” will always be tough to live up to, but it does appear that Edwards is making a much-needed leap in Year 2. Will that translate to in-season success? That is what the Raiders are hoping for from their potential No. 1 receiver.
