After 12 weeks, it’s pretty easy to see who won the Davante Adams trade this offseason. While the Raiders and Packers both have only four wins this season, Adams is playing at an All-Pro level and he is the least of problems for the Raiders.
In a recent article by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, he spoke with several NFL executives and decision-makers to get their thoughts on some of the league’s biggest trades this offseason.
In regards to the Adams trade, the executives gave the Raiders a “B” for the move. Here is what Fowler had to say about the trade after 11 games:
“Meanwhile, Adams has validated the hype for Las Vegas, ranking fourth in the NFL yards (999) and second in touchdowns (10). Derek Carr goes to him in big moments, and he delivers.
Any skepticism on the Vegas side comes from the Raiders’ roster-building direction. Las Vegas has tried to remain all-in while cleansing the roster from the previous regime, releasing former first-round picks Alex Leatherwood and Johnathan Abram.”
Things haven’t been perfect for Adams in Las Vegas as he’s dropped a few passes and did have an incident with a cameraman in Kansas City. However, he’s been the only reason the passing game has been successful as Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow have been non-factors.
Adams should total over 1,500 yards and score 14 or more touchdowns again this season. And for a team that desperately needed an outside receiver, it’s tough to poke too many holes in this trade by Dave Ziegler.
