Raiders game week for season opener vs Panthers has officially begun

The 2020 season begins now for the Raiders along with most of the NFL teams. Though they have been preparing for the Panthers for a few weeks now, today is their first practice in which they go into the usual game week grind.

They practice the next three days, with both teams putting official injury reports and the final injury report on Friday. Then they fly to Carolina on Saturday for the game on Sunday.

This season, traveling to away games the day before will be a league-wide requirement, regardless of how far away the host city is. That way they can isolate the team in the hotel the night before and ensure everyone’s COVID-19 test results come back prior to entering the stadium.

This season many teams will not have fans in the stands for the game. The Raiders will go at least the first four weeks of the season without any fans in the stands because the Panthers announced they’d have no fans for the season-opener, the Raiders won’t host fans for the entire season, and the Patriots (week three) won’t have fans for the first part of the season either.

Nuts and bolts aside, the most important thing about it being game week, is IT’S GAME WEEK! FINALLY! The season is upon us, and that’s exciting.

Thursday night is the official first game of the NFL season as the Texans and Chiefs square off from Arrowhead. That will give everyone a taste and the next time after that that football will be played is 10 am (PT) on Sunday when the Raiders and Panthers kick-off.
