Raiders former OC returns for third go round, this time as QB coach

Twice former Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson is back as quarterbacks coach under OC Chip Kelly.

A very familiar face to the Raiders is returning to the team with the new coaching staff. Greg Olson is back in Silver & Black for his third go round. The twice former Raiders offensive coordinator will be the Raiders QB coach under new OC Chip Kelly.

New head coach Pete Carroll is also familiar with Olson as he was Carroll’s QB coach in his final season with the Seahawks.

Olson first joined the Raiders in 2013 as OC under then head coach Dennis Allen and was ousted along with the rest of Allen’s staff following the 2014 season.

He was lured back to the Raiders by Jon Gruden to be his OC and once again was out after Gruden was forced to resign and the staff was not brought back.

So, basically every other coaching staff for more than a decade has brought Olson back into the fold. The difference this time is he will be the QB coach instead of offensive coordinator. A position Olson has held with seven NFL clubs dating back to 2001.
