Raiders fall to No. 21 in end-of-season NFL Power Rankings

Going into the 2022 season, the Raiders were one of the hottest teams in the league. With the addition of Davante Adams and Chandler Jones, the Raiders looked like a potential Super Bowl contender.

Unfortunately, that’s not the way the season panned out as the Raiders went 6-11 and missed the playoffs. That’s why it’s not surprising to see them ranked among the bottom 16 teams in the league after the conclusion of the season.

In a recent article by NFL.com’s Dan Hanzus, he recently wrote about all 32 teams after the conclusion of the 2022 regular season. Not surprisingly, the Raiders continued to fall down the list, ending at No. 21. Here is a snippet of Hanzus’ thoughts on the Raiders this season:

“In an ideal world, Jarrett Stidham balls out for a second straight week, and his late-season audition sends the Raiders into the offseason filled with optimism for the young passer. In reality, Stidham was merely OK in a season-ending loss to the Chiefs.

Perhaps that’s for the best. Stidham didn’t get enough live reps for the team to make any meaningful long-term decisions at quarterback, anyway; the Raiders are best served to act aggressively in a potential post-Derek Carr world.”

The Raiders have a lot to figure out this offseason, but nothing is as important as solving their quarterback issue. Whether it’s Derek Carr, Tom Brady or someone else, the Raiders have to improve at that position. If not, they’ll continue to be a middling team without a chance of competing in the AFC.
