Raiders DE Maxx Crosby No. 1 in WAR since 2021

Raiders DE Maxx Crosby has been the most valuable EDGE rusher in the NFL since 2021.

For whatever reason, Maxx Crosby doesn’t get the same amount of national attention as Micah Parsons, Myles Garrett, or Nick Bosa. You can even add more EDGE rushers to that list as T.J. Watt and Haason Reddick are often mentioned in a tier about Crosby.

However, the numbers don’t really back that up. Last year, Crosby led the NFL in pressures, QB hits, and tackles for a loss. He had the most sacks of his career in a single season (12.5) and was one of the most well-rounded EDGE rushers in the entire NFL.

Over the last two years, no EDGE rusher has been more valuable than Crosby. And that’s not an opinion. According to Pro Football Focus, no pass rusher has a higher WAR than Crosby over the last two seasons:

The hope is that with Tyree Wilson and Chandler Jones playing opposite of him in 2023, Crosby can see more one-on-one matchups. He is nearly unblockable in those situations due to his athleticism and motor as he’s grown as a pass rusher every year.

Crosby is one of the most dominant players in the NFL and he’s only getting better. Heading into his age 26 season, this could be the best season yet for Crosby. And that should be a terrifying thought for quarterbacks in the AFC.
