Raiders add former Browns FS Damarious Randall on one-year deal

The same day the Raiders’ one-year deal with Eli Apple fell through, they reel in another defensive back, snagging former Browns and Packers safety Damarious Randall, also on a one-year deal according to ESPN’s Josina Andersson.

The Raiders had been hot after a free safety the past couple weeks since free agency opened. Randall was one of the names they had been connected to, but up until the Apple deal fell through, they didn’t have the cap room available to sign him.

Randall was the 30th overall pick by the Packers in the 2015 NFL draft. After three seasons in Green Bay, he was traded to the Browns where he spent the past two seasons. He has 14 interceptions and 47 pass breakups in 56 career starts.

His addition gives the Raiders the centerfielder they have been looking for. He joins a group of safeties that includes 2019 first-round pick Johnathan Abram, Erik Harris, and newly signed Jeff Heath.
