Raheem Morris: Jalen Ramsey will ‘forever be one of my favorite players’

Raheem Morris spoke about what he misses most about having Jalen Ramsey on the Rams.

Things are going to look a bit different for the Los Angeles Rams on the defensive side of the ball, especially with the departure of Jalen Ramsey at the cornerback position. Ahead of the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks, Raheem Morris was asked about what he misses most about having Ramsey on the Rams.

He called Ramsey one of his favorite players and someone he expects to see in Canton one day when the All-Pro corner is inducted into the Hall of Fame. Morris also joked that he doesn’t miss Ramsey because the two still spend time so much time talking to each other despite Ramsey now being on the Dolphins.

“I thought I was going to get out of here without a Jalen question. There was no chance you’re going to let me do that,” Morris joked. “I don’t miss him because he calls me all the time. Jalen was super fun, right? Let’s cut to it. Jalen will forever be one of my favorite players, friend, comrade, whatever you want to call him and I’ll see him in Canton when it is time for him to go in and whether he goes in as a Ram, a Miami Dolphin or a Jacksonville Jaguar. He’s going to continue a high level of play and he’ll always be missed. His presence is still felt. There are guys that love him, there are guys that hate him. There are guys that know he pushed them to a competitive level that you just want to go out there and either prove them wrong or prove them right.

In his second full season with the Rams in 2021, Ramsey was entering his first year with Morris as the defensive coordinator. Despite many criticizing Morris throughout his first season, Ramsey and the defense would help the Rams secure a Super Bowl win over the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021.

Going back to his time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Ramsey has been a premier cornerback in the NFL, and he’s an ultra-competitive player. Morris realizes that Ramsey’s competitive nature can rub some players the wrong way, but he also brings the best out of everyone around him.

While Morris is focused on the current group of cornerbacks on the Rams, it goes without saying the team will miss Ramsey’s presence on the field. At the same time, it’s clear the amount of respect Morris has for Ramsey due to the time they spent together.
