The Atlanta Falcons decided not to retain Raheem Morris as head coach in 2021, instead opting to hire former Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith over the weekend.
Morris, who started the year as defensive coordinator, took over in Week 6 as the team’s interim coach and led the Falcons to a 4-7 record. Another team, the Jacksonville Jaguars, may have an interest in Morris, though.
Last week, he interviewed for the team’s then-vacant head coach position. And while Jacksonville ended up going with Urban Meyer, Morris remains a possibility for the Jaguars defensive coordinator spot, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Jaguars' HC Urban Meyer is talking to former Falcons' HC Raheem Morris about becoming Jacksonville's defensive coordinator, per sources. The two sides have been in contract and continue to be, as Morris sifts through his opportunities.

Meyer, who’s only ever been a head coach in the college ranks, makes his NFL debut in 2021. It would make a lot of sense for him to consider an experienced coach like Morris for his staff.
Prior to his run as Falcons interim coach, Morris was the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for three seasons (2009-2011).
