Quinton Dunbar continues to garner national praise for his season of work with the Washington Redskins.
Dunbar had a breakout year, stringing together a series of great performances while actually staying healthier than usual.
That’s getting recognized once again, this time by Pro Football Focus, which named Dunbar the biggest surprise at his position this year.
From Cam Mellor and Michael Renner:
“We had seen dominant games from Dunbar in the past, but he never kept it up for a whole season. In fact, he’d never played more than 400 snaps in a year before his 613 this season. He allowed a passer rating of 56.9 in coverage in 2019; he finished with four picks and was penalized once.”
That’s a stellar set of numbers, and especially in the passer rating and penalty marks. And it all hints that perhaps Dunbar is starting to step into his real potential right as he’s able to stay healthy.
The Redskins need this to translate into 2020, where they otherwise figure to undergo some notable change in the secondary around him as a new coaching staff shakes things up.
