Four-star quarterback Jake Merklinger will announce his commitment decision Thursday at 12:05 p.m. EDT.
He will choose between Tennessee, Georgia, Michigan State and North Carolina.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound quarterback is from Calvary Day School in Savannah, Georgia.
Merklinger is the No. 66 overall prospect in the class of 2024. He ranks as the No. 7 quarterback and No. 9 player in the state of Georgia, according to the On3 Sports industry rankings.
He was named the 2022 Offensive Player of the Year by the Savannah Quarterback Club. Merklinger was also named the Region 3-3A Player of the Year. He finished his junior season with 1,987 passing yards and 32 passing touchdowns.
The Vols are favorites to land Merklinger’s commitment, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine and 247Sports’ crystal ball predictions. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Vols have an 87.8 percent chance to land Merklinger’s commitment Thursday.
Director of Football Recruiting at 247Sports, Steve Wiltfong, and On3 Sports’, Chad Simmons, both entered predictions on Monday for Merklinger to commit to Tennessee.
