Four-star quarterback Deuce Knight has emerged as a top 2025 prospect.
The 6-foot-4.5, 180-pound quarterback is from George County High School in Lucedale, Mississippi.
Knight is the 2025 No. 86 overall prospect. He ranks as the No. 1 quarterback and No. 3 player in Mississippi, according to On3 Sports industry rankings.
Knight made his third unofficial visit to Tennessee on March 23. He discussed visiting Tennessee and updated his recruitment with Vols Wire.
Knight mentioned his biggest takeaway from visiting Tennessee was how the Vols’ coaching staff develops players.
“Some people talk a big game and say they can develop guys, but coach (Joey) Halzle and coach (Josh) Heupel really showed me what they do and how it paid off for them,” Knight said.
Tennessee’s consistent communication with Knight has helped build a relationship with the 2025 signal-caller.
“What stands out to me is how they are on building relationships and getting to know you,” Knight said. “I think ever since they offered me. I’ve talked to someone from the staff at Tennessee almost every week.”
Heupel’s success with quarterbacks stands out with Knight during his recruitment.
“That interests me a lot because you see coach Heupel’s offenses are explosive,” he explained. “He’s coached NFL guys who set records at their school, and a Heisman winner, all that is very eye-opening.”
The Vols have emerged as a top contender for Knight in his recruitment. He will unofficially visit Tennessee on June 3.
“I would say they are at the top,” Knight said of Tennessee. “Just the relationships I’ve built with the staff are great. They can develop you great and the offense they run is fun, and I know I fit the playing style.”
Knight recently participated in an Elite 11 regional, earning the highest grade of the weekend. His 122.28 grade surpassed scores of multiple notable former collegiate stars including, Justin Fields, Trevor Lawrence and Lamar Jackson.
“It’s a blessing,” Knight said of his Elite 11 performance. “I think it shows the work I have been putting in. Going out and competing with the best and then standing out with the best.
“Coaches can request Elite 11 tape from the camp, and the coaches that I camped with this summer told me when they watched the tape you can tell how much work I’ve been putting in to get better.”
As a 2025 prospect, Knight’s recruitment is still early in the process, but he wants to commit early and become a lead recruiter for the 2025 class.
“I wouldn’t say I’m taking it slow, but I am trying to give the new teams that have entered a chance to recruit me,” Knight said. “I do want to commit early, so when I feel that I know this is where I want to go to school I’m not going to wait. I’m going to lock in with them, so I can start recruiting.”
