Quarantine Celtics, Day 16: Zoom, Obama, and Tacko Fall’s framed anime

On Day 16 with no basketball, Boston Celtics players are sheltering in place and keeping in touch online.

As the coronavirus shutdown continues to suspend NBA activities, Boston Celtics players remain in league-mandated quarantine, turning to social media, online gaming and other forms of telepresence to stay connected.

16 days after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert’s COVID-19 positive test results forced the shuttering of live NBA games, many of Boston’s players find community re-watching old games, using downtime to catch up, or playing online games together.

Some Celtics are using it to advocate for others impacted by the pandemic.

Forward Grant Williams’ alma mater, for example, joins Boston in re-airing old games to fill the basketball void caused by the coronavirus shutdown, which of course Williams took note of.

You have to give the SEC credit, it comes up with some pretty slick images:

And like many, the former Volunteer has been using the downtime to keep in touch with friends — from a distance:

Center Daniel Theis had a birthday to celebrate today, though not his:

While forward Jayson Tatum clearly misses being more social, this is a good substitute in the meantime:

Big man Vincent Poirier got into some gaming with center Tacko Fall, inviting fans to join them:

And when center Fall wasn’t gaming with Vinny Sexpants, he was doing the sort of stuff we all do … don’t we?

Second-year center Robert Williams III had some strong feelings about a southern comfort food that sounds like a trainer’s nightmare:

While shooting guard Jaylen Brown retweeted former U.S. president Barack Obama giving thanks to all the essential workers continuing to risk their health for the security of others.

Rookie guard Carsen Edwards shared some sound advice:

While center Enes Kanter is trying to hold those putting others at risk in the middle of a pandemic accountable:

If you can, please stay home.
