In an almost improbable situation, the Jacksonville Jaguars are trending toward getting quarterback Trevor Lawrence back on the field against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Despite suffering a high ankle sprain on Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals, Lawrence has now practiced two days in a row on a limited basis for the Jaguars as they prepare for the Browns on a short week.
Asked about his game status today, Jaguars’ head coach Doug Pederson stated that Lawrence is ‘probably’ a game-time decision as the team continues to monitor his ankle leading up to the opening kickoff. If he cannot go, however, C.J. Beathard will get the start at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
The Browns enter this game with a 69 percent chance to make the playoffs according to ESPN’s Football Power Index. In the driver’s seat for a wildcard spot despite the bevy of injuries that could have unraveled their enter season, the Browns can all but hold a firm grasp on a spot with a win against the Jaguars on Sunday.
The game status of Lawrence, however, will be a key factor in how the game will play out on the field.
