Pen hasn’t even been put to paper yet, but we already know that Russell Wilson has a game circled on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ opponents schedule: the Denver Broncos.
We won’t know for a couple more months exactly when Pittsburgh will travel to Denver, only that it’s happening. And it’ll be a good one.
The Broncos lead the head-to-head series, 20-13-1 (10-15-1 regular season, 3-5 postseason).
Wilson’s very public divorce from the Broncos came at the tail end of the 2023 season. After a midseason five-game win streak gave Denver a shot at making the playoffs, Wilson was benched for the final two games for refusing to adjust the injury clause in his contract.
Denver’s loss was Pittsburgh’s gain. But no matter who the offensive coordinator or quarterback has been, the Steelers typically come out of the gate slow. Hopefully, the NFL doesn’t get all giddy and schedule Denver for the Steelers’ season opener.
Even if they do, something tells us Wilson will play at a high level with revenge as the fuel.
