Texas is back on the football field as the Horns begin preparation for the 2022 college football season.
The Longhorns were treated with good news: Freshman quarterback Maalik Murphy and redshirt sophomore wide receiver Troy Omeire returned to the practice field healthy. Both players dealt with injuries throughout spring ball.
Steve Sarkisian is more than excited to get Murphy and Omeire back on the field.
Murphy is entering his first fall camp as a member of the Longhorns. He was a four-star recruit in the 2022 class with eye-catching arm talent. Murphy fell behind in the quarterback battle after being limited in spring practice with an ankle injury.
The return of Omeire is long awaited news for Texas faithful. He was all the talk of the 2020 preseason before injuries stuck and kept him on the sidelines for the last two years.
