QB Deshaun Watson missing Texans practice due to foot injury

Quarterback Deshaun Watson is missing his first practice of Houston Texans training camp as he deals with a foot injury.

Quarterback Deshaun Watson was not present at the sixth Houston Texans training camp practice on day seven of camp at Houston Methodist Training Center.

According to Aaron Wilson of Sports Talk 790, Watson is out with a foot injury. The three-time Pro Bowler had his foot checked out after Monday’s practice, and his absence is merely precautionary, not considered serious.

Coach David Culley was asked in his Monday post-practice pressers with reporters whether Watson would be in pads.

“Nothing has changed,” Culley said. “Nothing has changed.”

Watson has been in a protracted standoff with the organization that began with his trade request in late January. The former 2017 first-round pick from Clemson skipped out on all of the team’s eight-week offseason program, including all 10 organized team activities sessions. Watson is also involved in pending litigation involving 22 women accusing him of sexual assault.
