QB Baker Mayfield praises Bucs organization on Pat McAfee Show

Mayfield said on the Pat McAfee show that to say he’s loving his time in Tampa Bay is “an understatement.”

It’s safe to say that Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield is having fun with his newest team.

Mayfield is set to be the guest picker on ESPN’s College Gameday show for the Red River Rivalry that pits his former college in the Oklahoma Sooners against the Texas Longhorns, and he stopped by the Pat McAfee Show set on Friday beforehand. Mayfield was asked about a lot of things, from his tenure in Cleveland to his college days, but McAfee eventually asked him how he feels being a Tampa Bay Buccaneer so far.

“I’m loving it,” Mayfield said. “I think that’s an understatement. It’s a great organization the people are great, they know how to win — they know it’s all about winning.”

Mayfield also went on to give the team a high comparison, saying playing with the team reminds him of his glory days when he won the Heisman Trophy.

“I’m having fun again. I was telling people, it kind of reminds me, back at Oklahoma,” Mayfield said. “Get the best guys on the field, all about football, no BS, and let’s just get after it.”

Mayfield was also asked about his two new receivers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, both of whom have been boons for him so far this year. Mayfield reiterated GM Jason Licht’s earlier statement that he approached the Bucs himself in free agency and also praised the pair’s craft and their mentality when it comes to football.

“Those guys are studs, two of the best to ever do it,” Mayfield said. “Just seeing them in person, they’re so much fun to watch.”
