All the way back in 2015-16, Michigan State Basketball head coach Tom Izzo was heavily recruiting 4-star guard Nojel Eastern out of Evanston, Illinois. Not only did Izzo offer Eastern, he made a trip down to Evanston himself and also had Eastern to East Lansing multiple times. Well, on Tuesday, Nojel Eastern, who has been a stalwart at Purdue since 2017, officially entered the transfer portal, and it has some Spartan fans wondering if this could finally be Izzo’s chance to land his once highly coveted recruiting prospect.
Eastern isn’t a shooter whatsoever, but he is a great defender and solid player who can rebound and make plays for his teammates. He averaged 4.9 points, 2.7 assists, and 4 rebounds per game last season for the Boilermakers.
One thing to note here though: Eastern will almost certainly have to sit out next season per the NCAA’s transfer rules.
