The Pittsburgh Steelers weren’t kidding when they said they wanted big, press-man cornerbacks with length. In the second round of the 2023 NFL draft the Steelers selected former Penn State cornerback Joey Porter Jr. and as a follow-up drafted Purdue cornerback Cory Trice in the seventh round.
Trice spoke to the media shortly after he was picked and said he was ok with the fact he had to wait until the seventh round and was just glad to be selected by the Steelers He also made sure everyone knows he is coming to play.
“The Steelers and Steelers nation, they will not regret it,” Trice said.
There’s no denying that Trice passes the eye test. Similar to Porter, he’s got great height and length, excellent on-field speed and the willingness to step up against the run. The Steelers had an exceptional draft and Trice in the seventh round might be the biggest bargain of all the picks.
