Purdue at Iowa odds, lines, picks and predictions
Prediction
Purdue 77, Iowa 73
Money line
PASS on the money line.
With late-game fouling playing a factor in close games, I’d prefer to gamble with the few points. The Boilermakers at -140 is good enough odds to consider though.
Against the spread
BET on PURDUE -2.5 (-105).
While neither team has necessarily dominated conference play, Purdue has looked better against Big Ten opponents. In conference play, they rank No. 1 in points per game, scoring 77.6 per game.
They also rank second in three-pointers made and attempted. Defending the three is a point of weakness of Iowa as they have the 7th-worst percentage from deep in Big Ten play.
Similarly, Purdue averages the most free throw makes and attempts per game; whereas Iowa ranks 13th in opponents’ free throw attempts and shooting. They just aren’t a great defending team, and the conference’s best offense should be able to abuse that.
Over/Under
“LEAN” to the UNDER 153.5 (-112).
Both teams are allowing under 72 points per game in conference play, and this total assumes around 77 points to each. Purdue is just 4-4 despite scoring the most points per game in conference action.
Their offense is typically overrated, and topping this total seems unlikely.
