Purdue at Iowa: Three things to know
- Purdue defeated Notre Dame 88-78 Saturday as a 4.5-point favorite on a neutral floor in Indianapolis. Junior G’s Eric Hunter Jr. and Sasha Stefanovic scored 18 points apiece as the Boilermakers won their third in a row. Hunter Jr. averages 14.3 points per game to lead four Boilers in double-figures. Junior F Trevion Williams, who averages 13.8 PPG, is Purdue’s top rebounder at 9.8 RPG.
- Iowa suffered its first loss of the season Saturday, dropping a 99-88 decision to top-ranked Gonzaga in Sioux Falls, Idaho. The Hawkeyes, who were 4.5-point dogs, hung tough through the first 10 minutes before the Bulldogs turned a 25-24 lead into a 51-37 halftime advantage. Senior C Luka Garza scored a game-high 30 points for Iowa, which trailed most of the second half by double-digits. Garza leads the country with 29.3 PPG and is pulling down a team-high 9.1 RPG.
- Purdue has won its last four vs. Iowa, including the last two at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Boilers swept the Hawkeyes last season: 104-68 at home Feb. 5 and 77-68 at Iowa March 3. In the most recent battle, Purdue led 42-25 at the half, Hunter Jr. scored a team-high 19 points for the Boilers and the Hawkeyes’ Garza netted a game-high 26 points.

PASS. Iowa (-300) should snap its personal losing streak to Purdue, but it’s not worth risking 3 times your potential return. However, the Boilermakers are tempting at +240.
Against the spread (ATS)
PURDUE +7.5 (-115) is the worth a HALF-UNIT WAGER. Iowa has no problem scoring, but its defense was exposed by Gonzaga in last weekend’s loss. The Hawkeyes allow opponents to shoot 40.8% from the field (ranking 122nd) and 33.3% on 3-pointers (207th).
